Lots of different people help to make the magic happen here at Barretstown.

Each year over 2,000 vital volunteers give up their time to support our camps, which simply couldn’t run without them. Working alongside the volunteers are our camp team, who are fully trained and qualified staff who run our Therapeutic Recreation camps and programmes.

In addition to the camp and volunteer teams, our staff team manage all aspects of Barretstown, from liaising with our families to fundraising to finance.

Meet the Senior Leadership Team

The Senior Leadership team head up the core functions within Barretstown: fundraising, finance, HR and operations. They provide the strategic direction for the organisation, along with our Board and sub committees.

Meet the Medical Team

Based in the friendly Med Shed, Eimear and the team of trained Paediatric Nurses take great care of all our campers from managing their medication, administering oral chemotherapy to putting plasters on scraped knees. The medical team are supported by a great team of volunteer doctors and nurses during camp.

Meet the Outreach Team

Led by Shoni, the Outreach Programme brings the hopeful, playful spirit of Barretstown to children and families beyond the gates of Barretstown

Meet the Support Team

Led by Mitch the support team are responsible for the for the recruitment of staff and volunteers, the design and facilitation of staff and volunteer training and the overall running and development of our programme. Along with our residential camps the team are responsible for bringing the Barretstown experience to other charities and hospitals across Ireland and the UK and expanding our service beyond the gates of Barretstown to children living with a serious illness.

The fundraising team work very hard to ensure we reach our ambitious target of raising €6.9 million each year.  They are always available to help our community, individual and corporate supporters and are happy to answer any queries you might have.

The Community Team

From bake sales to bike rides, the Mini Marathon to the Iron Man the Community Team can help you take part in an event or organise your own.

The Individual Giving Team

Taking care of our donors is the most important thing for the Individual Giving team. They look after our valuable monthly direct debit donors and organise the vital appeals we run each year to help us keep the gates open. These hard working men and women are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the Barretstown grounds and buildings. With 100 acres, a castle, 15 cottages and lots of other buildings this team are kept busy gardening, painting, cleaning and loads of other essential duties. Barretstown wouldn’t be the place it is today without them!
