Barretstown Activity Leader - An Introduction

Barretstown offers free, specially designed camps and programmes for children and their families living with a serious illness – supported behind the scenes by 24 hour on site medical and nursing care. We deliver these programmes at our unique campus in County Kildare. Outside of our campus, we also offer outreach programmes in schools and hospitals around Ireland. Barretstown empowers and encourages each child to step out of their comfort zone and rebuild confidence. This is done through our medical-led therapeutic programmes. The Barretstown Activity Leader team and our volunteer Caras are the ones that bring these programmes to life.

Barretstown Activity Leaders front our programmes, providing fun, engaging and challenging activities, which are based on Therapeutic Recreation. This is all done in a safe environment, supervised by our expert onsite medical team. As a Barretstown Activity Leader, you would be at the heart of everything we do. You would directly experience the impact of Barretstown for children and families who need our programmes.

We are currently hiring for:
- Spring 2023
- Summer 2023
- Autumn 2023

Additional Information

- This position is residential; meals, and shared accommodation are provided for the duration of this
contract while camp is in session.
- Staying on-site when camp is not in session is on a exception basis and requires approval by Programme Director.
- You are expected to remain on site while rostered during camp.
- The duration of this contract is September 1st to December 11th 2022.
- Activity Leader training takes place on September 1st and 2nd. Attendance is mandatory.
- Covid-19 protocols and measures additional to HSE guidelines are in place.
