Residential TY Programme

Join Barretstown’s new Residential TY Experience in 2022, here on the beautiful 500-acre Barretstown campus. We host 5-day/4-night, all-inclusive residential programmes for TY classes, where the focus is self-development in a fun & unique environment.

What is this Residential TY Programme that everyone is talking about?

Barretstown’s Residential TY Programme is an exciting residential experience which takes place on our amazing 500-acre campus. Our 5 day/4 night programmes (Monday-Friday) run throughout Spring, early Summer and Autumn, with each programme serving a single school only. Our immersive programme gives students the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the charity sector. Helping children and families across Ireland to experience Barretstown’s life changing therapeutic programmes resonates with students and is deeply rewarding and empowering. The programme helps students develop leadership, communication, decision making and problem-solving skills, strengthen existing class bonds through fun team building activities and challenges, and gain insights into the work Barretstown does to support children and families affected by serious illness. While at Barretstown, students will have access to the expertise and knowledge of our amazing team and campus, including our new residential facilities, teaching spaces, outdoor activities, amphitheatre, media studios and gardens. We cater for groups of a minimum of 25 students. Full board is included with accommodation in our state of the art newly built accommodation building ‘Paul’s Hideout’ and meals served in our award winning dining hall, ‘Elizabeth’s Tree House’.

We can cater for school groups of 25 minimum and each 5-day/4-night programme will run from Monday morning until Friday morning. We offer full-board in our new state of the art accommodation building ‘Paul’s Hideout’, dining in our award winning dining hall ‘Elizabeth’s Treehouse and a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Our mission is to facilitate self-education for maturity with the emphasis on personal development including social awareness and increased social competence. Participants will be facilitated in developing leadership skills through workshops on communications, decision making and problem solving.

Fun is the central element to everything we do at Barretstown. Making challenges fun is an integral part of therapeutic recreation. Fun entices participants to attempt more and to continually challenge themselves in a safe and supportive environment.

We are now taking bookings for Autumn 2022 and Spring 2023.

Who can go?

Who can go?

Our residential TY experience is only open to schools rather than individual students. School groups must:
- Be TY students
- Be ready and eager to participate in the programme
- Fundraise to participate in our residential programme
(by fundraising, each student is facilitating another child with serious illness to come and experience the magic of Barretstown)

How can we fundraise?

You can fundraise as a school and also as individual students. The process of fundraising can be as much part of developing social awareness as the TY programme itself.

Make use of online fundraising platforms like JUSTGIVING so that many people can contribute to the one total and funds come directly to Barretstown so it's simple and transparent to use!
