Residential TY Programme

Join Barretstown’s new Residential TY Experience in 2021,
here on the beautiful 500-acre Barretstown estate.
Launching in February 2021, we will be hosting 4-day residential programmes for TY classes.

What is this Residential TY Programme that everyone is talking about?

Building on the success of our popular non-residential TY programmes at Barretstown, every February and October, we are developing the Barretstown TY experience to make it even more immersive by being residential which allows us to broaden the scope of content even further to meet the needs of 2021 TY students.

We can cater for school groups of between 25-40, including 2 supervising teachers with each group. Each 4-day programme will be restricted to one school only. Students will learn about Barretstown’s programmes and will actively participate in preparing the site for the next weekend camp and gain an insight into all areas of our operation, from programme delivery to facilities and fundraising. While here, students have access to the expertise of our amazing Barretstown Camp team and campus, including our new residential facilities, teaching spaces, outdoor activities, gardens, and media studio space. We offer full-board, a modern dining hall and a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Our mission is to facilitate self-education for maturity with the emphasis on personal development including social awareness and increased social competence. Participants will be facilitated in developing leadership skills through workshops on communications, decision making and problem solving.

Fun is the central element to everything we do at Barretstown. Making challenges fun is an integral part of therapeutic recreation. Fun entices participants to attempt more and to continually challenge themselves in a safe and supportive environment.

Who can go?

Who can go?

Our residential TY experience is only open to schools rather than individual students. School groups must:
- Be TY students
- Be ready and eager to participate in the programme
- Fundraise to participate in our residential programme
(by fundraising, each student is facilitating another child with serious illness to come and experience the magic of Barretstown)

How can we fundraise?

You can fundraise as a school and also as individual students. The process of fundraising can be as much part of developing social awareness as the TY programme itself.

Make use of online fundraising platforms like JUSTGIVING so that many people can contribute to the one total and funds come directly to Barretstown so it's simple and transparent to use!
