“We wanted to choose a charity that aligned with our beliefs and after doing some research we chose Barretstown. Barretstown exists to help every family in Ireland affected by childhood serious illness and we all felt inspired by the mission and vision of the organisation.
We started to plan our event in early December 2014 and visited Barretstown’s site in Ballymore Eustace to meet with the community fundraising team. It was immediately evident from our visit that there is a unique glow and atmosphere in Barretsstown and we wanted to bring this atmosphere with us into our project. For the next 4 months we organised all the tasks that go into such an event, from calling companies to driving half way across the country to get a signed Irish Six Nations Rugby jersey.
In the end, a total of 88 players from 21 companies and 8 volunteers from 4 countries took part on event day. We had great fun running the event, were delighted with our fundraising achievement and feel proud to have had the chance to help Barretstown and the children and families they serve.”
