We are delighted you have decided to apply to volunteer! You are now a step closer to experience the magic of volunteering with Barretstown !

We are now looking for new volunteers to join us for our 2017 spring and summer programmes.

Places for our spring camps are offered on a rolling basis so please send in your application as soon as possible.

Closing date for summer applications is 17th  February 2017.

We are also looking for people to become involved with our ongoing outreach programmes, you can indicate on your application form if you are interested in these programmes.

Step 1 - Volunteer Requirements

• You must be at least 19 years or over

• You need to be fluent in English

• You need to be available for the full length of the camp session/outreach programme

• You need to attend a training session prior to taking up your role at camp (if based in Ireland)

Step 3 - Submit your documents

Please note: We have one volunteering application form for all roles and sessions. When completing your form please review our camp calendar first and indicate the session(s) and role(s) you are interested in.

Please submit:

• Volunteering Application Form

• Two written references completed on Barretstown Template

• Criminal Background Check/Vetting (explained below)

• After this, we will be in touch to:
Conduct a phone interview for about 20 minutes

Step 4 - Criminal Background Check Procedure

All applicants must have a clear criminal background check/vetting to volunteer with Barretstown.
There are different procedures depending on which country you are coming from:

ALL APPLICANTS: Barretstown Vetting. Please read vetting guidelines below.

In addition you will also have to supply as follows:

UK Residents: You will also be required to submit an International Childcare Certificate at offer stage.

USA Residents: FBI Clearance through a fingerprint submission

All other applicants outside of Ireland: Criminal Background Check from Country of Residence.

Step 6 - Get Ready for Camp!

A bit nervous? Nothing to worry about, if you are selected we will give you all the training you'll need prior to camp! ...

Spring and Autumn camps all new volunteer caras based in Ireland must attend one of our mandatory training days. Overseas volunteers are trained at camp and complete on-line training prior to travel.

Spring (4th February, 9.30am-1pm) or (9th March, 5.30pm-9pm)
Autumn (2nd September or 10th September) (9.30am-1pm)

Summer Training – all volunteer caras/interpreters including those coming from overseas takes place the day before each camp commences.
You stay on site after the training for the session. Chaperones are trained at camp and complete on-line training prior to travel.
